Chung Jung One was established in 1956 in South Korea. At that time, fermented products such as Gochujang (fermented chilli paste) and Doenjang (fermented soybean paste) were still produced in the traditional way in earthenware pots. The fermentation gives the products an umami flavour. Umami is called the fifth taste alongside sweetness, sourness, bitterness, and saltiness. It’s also very healthy!
Chung Jung One can now been found in almost every part of the world and has grown into one of the biggest producers of fermented products. The brand has also been available in the Netherlands since 2015.
